Nephila Maculata Help

My petstore down the street just got in a Nephila Maculata female and shes so beautiful, bu I cant find any real caresheets for the spp. Anyone know how they should be kept?:confused: know they need alot of space but dont really know how to take care of a spider since I only have scorpions at the moment. And any pictures of enclosures would be really nice too :)

i would throw it in the corner of a room and let it spin a web. I have a Argiope aurantia in the corner and it moved to the window. the one you are looking at will make a GIANT web.

Search for a pic of an H. maculata, or Togo Starburst Baboon or Ornamental Baboon - is THAT what the store has? Many stores have NO idea about what they really have. :) Or, the people selling the T's to the store really don't care about giving correct info to a store who has less than a clue about these critters.

I have two baby H. maculatas - I like them myself. And the adults are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i believe he is reffering to Nephilla maculata, not Heterosconda. Nephilla is also called the golden silk orb weaver, named so for the golden yellow color of its web. asian Nephilla spp. are known to make webs so large that they catch the occasional small bird.

I just never heard of any pet store getting such delicate critters in, unless it's a special order they specialize in this sort of thing (I've heard of physical stores specializing in herps, in birds, in fish, but I've NEVER heard of a physical store in any town specializing in spiders....) It was just an idea.

I also spoke with a guy from a pet shop recently who was talking about the "N. maculata" tarantula he had in a couple months before. I asked if it might have been an H. maculata, but he insisted the fuzzy thing was a N. maculata - I was only thinking it may be the same sort of thing... lol! No big deal. :D

Well theres no doubtone being a Nephila Maculata, and my local pet store is a very nice one though not experts in arachnids pretty good at the ones they have in. But true spiders, (if this is such a spider?) anit their usual kind. Which is my problem.
I hope to get some pictures in here, but wont take it home unless I got the right setup.
