We found this spider in Nebraska. Many of the guys around thought it was a black wolf spider, but I'm not sure it is. We have small children and don't know if we should be worried. Would someone be able to identify it for us? I'd really appreciate any help.

Hi,
Definitely a Hogna sp., maybe H. georgicola? Not a huntsman though, you can tell it's a wolf by it's eye arrangement and the body structure... Greetings.

I Beleive They call it the Great Plains Wolf Spider, Hardly NOT even close to dangerous (really unless your alergic to the venom) and that's Even IF you get bit...They're pretty common throughout North Eastern Colorado All the way Through Nebraska...Pretty Cool little guys to keep too, But ya have to watch out...The Female will transport her slings on her abdomen, SO one wrong move, and you're going to have a bunch of babie's runnin' around all over the Place! Either way~ It's a Great find!

Someone posted it already, but it is a wolf spider. Hogna georgicola is correct.
