hi i am interested in purchasing a Spanish Funnel Web (Macrothele calpeiana) (not sure about the spelling) i can get 3-5cm ones for £12 plus £6 postage, from my usual supplier, he states that they don't require a DWA license because the venom ain't as strong as its Australian relative. what are these like?

i know these are not true spiders but are mygalomorph spiders and have interested me for a while so have huntmans spiders.

just trying to talk my beloved wife into them now LOL

I have 2 of these pet holes. I've had them a few weeks and after making a hole and the web funnel I havet seen them yet.

They do not need a DWA

The adults are something else and from what I have seen they are
Fair sized,,2"to 3" span, females take breeding at 2.5" and the males are spindly and about the same size. The females do get bigger
Aggressive
Fast
copius webbers
pet holes....?...ahh pet funnels
The bite is supposed to be a rather nasty one, from what you might have read it can be to each extreme and in between. What I have seen is hopper mice being bitten and death in a minute or so. Crickets expire rather fast when nailed.
I personally think the bite is not something to be taken lightly, but that is just my opinion.

Just bought one of these as a juvenile. Feisty little devil. Should i provide a water dish or just mist side of container ?

great 2nd species in my opinion...yes there are no restrictions as of yet for this species and its nowhere near as toxic as it aussie cousins...between some of the malaysian traps and this species, you should have a fun time..

real easy to care for and do not require a water dish...a good misting once a week should be fine.... keep the temps above 76* and they make great little pitbull spiders lol, if and when you see them but if husbandry is where it should be, that wont be much if at all......
