ID Please

I found this wolf spider I believe. It was under a large stepping stone in a decent sized scrape in search of isopods.

I live in Greenwood, Indiana to maybe narrow it down.

but typically you are going to need a good clear shot of the eyes to help get down to family or maybe genus

ah, it's not worth doing something special so i can see it. i don't know too much about true spiders compared to a lot of the ppl that cruise this board

I am going to venture a guess that it is a Hogna sp..

This is just a guess, I will look into it more later, Im away from all my resources here at school.

most likely a hogna species, but im almost postitive that its a lycosa ;P

Thanks, I'll try looking around for some imagery of that genus.
Anyone else have some thoughts?

OK guys, I need egg sac help.

I woke up this morning and was checking my inverts and joked to myself before I closed the door "Huh, wonder if I got another egg sec.." Well I did.

So now, what do I do? It has just been dropped within 3-5 days max. I can't keep each baby. I don't have any vials and wasn't expecting this at all (Not a spider guy). Help would be appreciated.

hmmm, well, the babies will climb on mommy's back after they hatch. they will stay there for awhile, til they are big enough to fend for themselves. maybe keep the female in a tight sealed jar so you can catch the babies as they come off of mom. otherwise, i don't know. you will prob have to catch them one by one.

The easiest option is to make sure the container is secure enough for no escapees once the sac hatches, then just leave it alone. The young spiders will eat each other one by one until very few are left. You can remove them once they move off of their mom, but it is a tedious process, especially since I have had wolf spider sacs yield well over 200 babies.

The other last option is to attempt to get the sac from the mother now and discard, but you risk stressing her out while doing this.
