Anyone know where I can acquire a golden Orb Spider? They are not native to the state I live in so I will need to buy one online if possible. They look bad ass and would make a good addition to my horrible menagerie of doom.

i think AL & surrounding states have a Nephila species. i think they call them banana spiders

I grew up in upstate NY and used to see them there. In CO for past 7 years and have never seen one here. Too bad, I REALLY want one.

We have a bunch of orb weavers that people call banana spiders...I'm not sure of genus or species so I'll see if I can dig up a picture to post...

I have seen a few variances but over all they look similar. Some have more elongated abdomens while others have different markings. Their web seems to be pretty consistent.
