View Full Version : ID spider from Guatemala

This spider was near our camp in the Rio Dulce region of Guatemala last week. Although the picture does not clearly show it, the body of the spider was actually a brilliant reflective "chrome" color, earning it the nickname "the chrome spider" by those in our group. It is unlike anything I have ever seen. For reference the diameter including the legs was approximately 4 inches. Any help in identification would be appreciated.
definitely Nephila, looks like N. clavipes

That is absolutely gorgeous. Pictures like these are what I show people when they ask me why I like spiders. :)

not sure about everyone else..but i'd say that is some sort of Nephila sp.
