Wasn't sure if this should be here or in the other spider section. But since the little beast doesn't do any web spinning and pounces 'it's pray and eats walks and acts kinda like a T. Figured I'd throw it here and if it needs to be moved it will be.

This little guy who is about an inch long, decided I needed help in the basement. Caught him before he went under the washing machine.

He/She Loves mealworms. :)

The twins have named him Buggly...

Does it seem to lay flat on its legs, is it very leggy?
It could be a fishing spider, can't remember the Latin name
right now. Check for a thread in the "other forum" I asked about one of those spiders a while back. :?

It doesnt look like a tarantula to me but it certainly is cool. If it eats mealworms than it must be pretty big.

Damn, how big is that thing? Dosen't really look like a T to me, but it is cool looking. Can you get a clearer pic of it?

Despite the fuzziness of the picture, I am fairly sure that's a wolf spider (Hogna sp.). Although fishing spiders (Dolemedes) are simmilar in many ways, the shape of the raised section at the front of the carapice suggests wolf to me.

There are no known native species of tarantulas in the US east of the Mississippi river, but there are 1 or 2 that have been introduced in Florida.
