What kind of camera? Does it have a macro Function? What was your first tarantula?

I strongly advise you to be cautious with the H. maculata, since you probably don't have much experience with Ts, especially arboreals. it is a wonderful and stunning specie yet pretty quick and venomous:) will the avic and mac be slings?

I thank you for your concern, but I have put many weeks into researching and reading the boards about them :D . Then I took about three more weeks to decide whether it would be a good T for me or not. I decided to get it {D .

I have them now and yes they are slings:p . The H. mac is about 1/2 inches and the A. avic is the same size. I have no plans to hold these t's as it is not natural for them to be held. I will definately enjoy them though as pretty as they are :o .

I completely agree with you, I think that if you respect any animal and treat them right, that you will not get bit and all in all will make the animals more enjoyable. H. macs are very cool looking creatures and I am sure you will have some good photos for us. {D

I wouldn't worry about ocasionally holding the Avic. They tend to be very docile, and a little handling won't hurt. The H. mac, on the other hand, not so much, as you already know. I have one and those things are like greased lightning!!!!
