Any of my fellow tarantula people dabbled in jumping spiders? I never have but i'm thinking i'll set it up like a small avic.
I apologize for the bad form in posting this true spidey question here but i'm trying to get this dealt with quickly. If i don't set him up tonight i'll have to wait until tomorrow night and i don't want him to dehydrate or anything.
Link to my appropriately placed post here. (http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=122745)
Thanks youz all.

I dunno, i bet it'd be harder to catch than a 1" pokie sling.
They move very differently from any t, very cool to watch. If these things grew to 5" i think i'd be WAY more afraid of it than even the most evil haplo or baboon or pokie or...
To be honest, i just chose a controversial title to try to get quick answers. I'm playin dirty today. ;P

This forum practically gets more traffic than the rest of the site combined. I'm greedily trying to get an answer on the quick before i set up his house. Sorry.

Daring jumping spiders I catch those bare handed, they are quick but not as quick as my little Salem's, nor would I try grabing a salem bare handed either.
BTW, a Daring jumping spider won't bite, unless you make it drop a meal from it's mouth. If it does and you try picking it up bare handed it will bite. Otherwise you can pick them up with ease.

I think pokies are overrated in their speed/nastyness anyway. Or they are very calm and seldom use it. P. cambridgei on the other hand hit the ground running. I've heard that taps/aussies etc. make Psalmos look slow...which wouldn't surprise me.

It was interesting trying to coax it into the new container. They don't respond to the same stimuli that t's do. They like, actually see you. lol

I have to agree with etown, they move and react way differently than pokies. All my poecs move fast but usually they dont watch you and jump at you....

i had a3 inch orange baboon run on me and it was really fast, took about half an hour and lots of sweating to catch it
Jumpers look pretty crazy when they literally turn thier "head" and look straigh at you, and literally react to the way you move. Though I think they are slow (we have alot of daring jumpers here) they are much harder to get into containers....that is if you dont just grab them.I just take the bite to get them into a container.

They are extremely adept at using vision to their advantage. If they see the container they will avoid it because they know every little nook and cranny of the area they call home and it will look out of place.
