If you live in NY you should be able to find them all around you... they're really common. Just head out into the woods... or just look around outside your house.

I am in the heart of the city...
where pesticides and regular fumigating persist... :(
'fraid there definitely aren't many spiders around me... :8o

maybe upstate? ........

Really? You never see spiders around? I mean, I know Philly is no NYC, but I can walk down the street to the park, lift up some bark, and find fishing spiders pretty easily.

Either way, if you get just a little ways out of the city you will be certain to find all sorts of jumpers... I was in Ithaca the other day and had a "audacious jumper" sitting and watching me (really) for a good 20 minutes. I find jumpers around here in Philly pretty consistently.

I have had a P. regius female Regal Jumping Spider for over a year. She is active, eats crickets by pouncing on them as fast as lightning, and her coloration is gorgeous. She is about an inch long and fat. I feed her and mist her container once a week. I highly recommend this species. I purchased mine here:

I hope that helps. :D kd

Really though, if you can get out of the city even a little ways you should find these all over the place. If you just want to keep a jumper... any jumper... there are big ones around your area... like 1", which is about max for jumpers. If you were a jumper collector, and there were rare or non-native species that you wanted, that would be one thing... but paying money for jumpers is like paying for mosquitos... or isopods maybe more accurately.

I have lived in NY all my life and have never seen many spiders. I've seen cellar type spiders and some lynx, but not any that have looked too exotic, as these say jumpers with the huge eyes.. and definitely not many?? Nope.

My P. audax female just laid MORE eggs sometime during the night!!!!

This makes THREE egg sacs since I've had her!

These little girls are baby machines, so I will never be at a loss for jumpers!

I still have three s'lings from her last brood-- the rest I let go, saving only the largest.

A friend just informed me he has a large female living on his car jack..I am SO going over there and snagging her, to mate with my male!!{D {D

You MUST get some jumpers, they are the BEST!! You won't be disappointed! :)
