I have an Audobon Field Guide that shows the range of these being in the southern states and also out west . Are there isolated populations in Georgia and Florida. I vaguely remember seeing one once along time in my grandmothers tub. I went to get a jar by the time I got back it was gone.

Yes there are populations in various locations, they are very difficult to find however. Central Fla has them but finding them is a pain. When I do my presentations, people tell me they have seen them hunting near their porch/yard lights. But they usually do not stray far from their burrow and they are fast and shoot down their hole like lightening.

Its seems they are attracted to people that dont know what they are or hate them:rolleyes:

They are on Marco and most barrier islands on the east coast. Rather plentiful after a heavy evening rain. I found them during the day under palm fronds
