View Full Version : Holy creeeping babies, Batman!!!!!!
As some of you know we have an A. purpurea sack that we planned on taking away from Mama on Saturday.
Well the babies had other plans. We went into the spider room to just give everyone a check last night, and, of course, to check on our eggsack. We looked and found babies everywhere!
We called an experienced friend, who came over to help (and to keep us calm because quite frankly we were both freaking out) and we took Mama out. She was still on the floor of her tube web, clutching the empty sack. Then we got out babies.
The total on babies is (drum roll please) 61!!!!!!!!!! We found one bad egg in the sack.
We are thrilled to death and super happy!!! This is our first successful sack!!! Congratulations also go to dragontears and funnylori, since the Papa of the sack was jointly owned by them.
Congrats girls!!!!!!!!!!!! We are grandmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pictures will get taken and posted tonight, we were a little to freaked out and busy to do it last night.
wow, woo hoo, congrats, I want one.:D

I adore my A avic babies. There is nothing cuter than Avic slings of any species. However, I'd be especially excited to have A purpurea slings! :)

Congratulations to all participants involved. How exciting to have your first eggsack emerge in tenths of new babies.
Just make sure you put me on your list for a few A. purpurea slings. Seriously.
Enjoy!
Mina, my MM P. metallica is awaiting and available.

Thanks for the congrats, but we don't have a mature female P. metallica. Ours molted into a mature male as well

Mattias, my pardon. This P. metallica message was intended for Anastatia.
My mind wondered off and got Mina confused.
How the little kiddos doing?

Chencho, no worries.
The babies are wonderful, we did loose one so we are at 60. The remaining ones had already started webbing up the jar they are in. We packed up dragontear's and funnylori's babies last night to separate them out from ours and it was fun! For the most part they very calmly go where you push them with a paint brush, but a couple had ideas of world exploration.
However, out of 40 only 3 really took off. One of then shot out of the jar and ran under the table. Matthias put his hand under the baby, who fell into it, and was then placed in his vial. The other one took off at a fast run toward me, I grabbed a vail, stuck it in front of the baby and he literally ran into his new home.
They are so cute!!!!!!!!!!

woohoo! These guys are so fun! I packed up several of mine for a trade last week and had a couple little snot rockets that had a different opinion of how they should be packed for the trip. They can be so fast, although one got on my husband's hairy arm and had trouble keeping up its speed through all the hair. It made me wish we had a video of it.

Thats a great first sack, heck those that have been breeding for years would like to have that kind of luck.
