My aunt had been watching a series of spider nests in her back garden for some Friday night entertainment. A gust of wind blew a tiny seeds into the nests. She then watched as the spiders scurried over to the site of attachment, cut the threads on either side of the foreign body and used their front legs to flick it out of the nest. She watched them do this several times and, returning next morning, found the nests to be completely clear.
Unfortunately, she couldn't give any additional information to assist their identification than "small". Has this behaviour been documented?
