I've brought home a solifugid...and in the last few days of the trip eggs became visible inside of it.

Any help as to how to set her up? She's been doing okay in a small container, but I recently moved her to a bigger one.

Also, her abdomen changes in size alot. It seems today that the eggs are not so visible(her abdomen is more white)and despite feeding quite a bit has not changed significantly. I haven't watched her since putting her in this enclosure but in the small jar she seemed to keep weight much better. This sweaterbox container has soil for her to dig in and some physical barriers to try to stop pacing. A rock retreat was also provided. Right now she's in a little depression against the side chowing on a mealworm.

Consider every single thread I've read on these ends in dissapointment...I can't be so confident.

She is still not using that hide.

hey dtknow, i've got a couple things i've noticed while keeping these guys. you are right that she will keep fatter in a smaller container, only because she is not pacing. with eggs, mine have ended in disappointment. mine made a burrow/scrape under her wood hide, and dropped the eggs there. after about a day or so, she ate them. the key, IMO, is to get the eggs out ASAP after they are dropped.

sounds good. The female provides no care for the eggs?

She's laid her eggs in a clump at one side of the tank. I removed her and she's got a crazy appetite. What to do with the eggs? Leave them where deposited, remove them to incubator(what kind?) etc.

They look like a pile of tapioca beads or BBs.

i don't know what exactly to do. i would suggest leaving them where they are, as this would probably be what would happen if she was not in captivity. and yes, they look like tapioca beads {D

Ok, citing from thread off ATS Punzo reccomends removing the eggs to a paper towel substrate.

What I find odd is how the eggs were simply left in a corner. I coaxed the female under a rock with a premade depression under it and sometime during that night she goes over and lays her eggs out in the open.

Female is still eating and back in a small jar. Can I expect her to keel over pretty soon? Might she give me another batch of eggs? Considering she came from 4 hours away getting a male for her is not a possibility.
