I've been seeing quite a few six spotted fishing spiders around a lake. I was wondering what the setup would have to be like to keep one.
I gotta start taking pics but first I need a camera.
coco husk, cork bark to rest on and water source.
Or 5-10 gal w/couple inches of water and floating cork bark
feed crickets.
They need a perching prop like a stick or cork bark
I keep mine both ways and have plenty babies

I keep D. fimbriatus (the European version of the six spotted fishing spider) like that too. 1 inch of water, a rock, and a piece of bark resting on that rock. Feed it whatever in matching size. They can take prey as big as their own bodylength. Really beautiful and fun spiders!

yep, I really like the dolomedes, I keep D. triton and D. okefinokensis.
I would like to keep A. aquatica but I do not know if they are available in the states.

You have some big ass dolomedes over there.... But we have A. aquatica :) They just seem to be a hassle to keep in captivity, unlike Dolomedes spp. Some day I'll give it a shot though.

If you ever come to the US, come to Fla. and we will go spider hunting. I would like to go to Sweden but by the time I get the money to go I will be very old.

That would be awesome :D My gf wants to go to Florida, but I doubt she'd follow me on a spider hunt ;) I'd leave her on the beach lol

open invite, you are even closer. A fun thing to do is spot light them from my canoe, the spider eyes are green/blue and the gator eyes are red:D

well you can get up close and personal with them because any new guests have to get out and catch the spiders we spotlight:D
But seriously if you could make it down it would be allot of fun.
I'm so broke because of my Divorce lawyer fees and child support I cant even pay attention let alone drive anywhere.

Oh that sounds like a lot of fun {D Well, the catching spiders and trying to avoid gators, not the divorce... :(
yeah I love taken people out.
You know I lost my "swamp" house due to the divorce it was a dream location . No nosey neighbors and in the swamp packed with gators and you name it. Oh well atleast I had it to experience.
But its not like the swamp is a million miles away, its right around the corner lol

i've practically touched noses with alligators in the wild. i imitated the baby gator squeak once and it attracted a 2-4 footer to the boat i was in(this was in SC, by the way). I literally could have reached over and grabbed him, but i contained myself lol.
oh yeah there is plenty up close and personals,I know some good coves with plenty of babies. We can "play" with mine if you come down.
