More pod monsters;P
I have been missing my A biceogi since he passed and have been looking daily for a sac hatch. When xhexdx posted A biceogi's I jumped on it.

Today I received 6 more pod monsters.

I wonder if he has any left. These are right at the top of my "must have" list.

Xhex, clean out your inbox!

Actually I don't even want the spiders, I just need some straws...

BTW next time use clear straws so I can see what side their tail end is so I can push from that side. A couple of the T's came out tail first and weren't too happy;P

Thanks, guys! I figured there would be a post or two about me using Ryan's packing method. What can I say? It's proven to be highly successful, so why NOT do it?

Those were the only straws I had at the time, Pig. :}

And if you all would (thanks to those who already have), please leave me a review:

http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=115567

It's a short list for now, but hopefully it'll be getting longer soon.

Thanks again guys. Ethan, my inbox is clear and waiting for ya.

I will be using this method on my slings to, I am guessing it would work on any sling?

Works on everything I have done so far. Might have some trouble with a blondi sling though :wicked:

Seems like it would be insanely difficult to get them to go in the straws... clever method tho..

Its not hard at all. 10 slings 10 minutes or less.

I used your method, of course. Funnel made from a sheet of paper.

Ha. I just posted an idea for you on ATS. I was thinking of getting one of those 7 day plastic pill box. You can drill a hole the size of the straw. It has a rounded bottom that once they are in the single day compartment they would go easily into the straw...maybe.

My funnel method works really well. But that might be something you can try out!

That actually sounds like it could be a way to ship seven slings that are a bit too big to fit in straws... but I've never shipped anything so idk.

I see two methods here that I like. First of course is the straw packing method. Also i like tha way Warpig drilled a hole in the side of the vial and covered it with mesh. That's a nice, simple approach at giving avics the ventilation they need.

When I got my two b. smithi's last year from Ryan, I had no idea he could get them in such small straws and how in the world I was going to get them out. I was able to push them through. I should have saved the straws because they have grown so much now. Love 'em.

Thanks!!! I went one step further on 20 other vials I recently made for my avis.

This was easy to do and cheap, and lets me mist the vials without having to open them.

Today I received a female P metallica and I vented a hobby cube for her

Plus there is a huge vent on top which is not visible.

LMAO Yeah right D!!!

Yeah, that's some great DIY Pig. I've got some of those bicegoi on the way too (Thanks xhexdx) and i think i'll try setting them up similar to that. How are you cutting those holes; big drill bit? tiny saw?

This is a hole saw that attaches to a drill or a drill press, you can get them ay Home Depot for a few bucks in different sizes they come for wood and plastic applications, you can also buy them in them in a kit which comes with different sizes..

GL and post pics when you make yours.

You don't have any issues with the display cubes cracking? That's the biggest problem I have; I have to resort to just melting ventilation holes in my cubes.

When drilling with a bit or the hole saw you have to go slow, they crack because you apply too much pressure b4 the bit has a chance to start the hole. I know I have cracked a couple. Now I just go slow and haven't cracked one in a while.

Like Pig says, I also go slow and always tape the area being drilled w/ masking tape.

I did a couple of enclosure with screening yesterday. I wish i'd had a bigger drill bit than 1/4". The 1" holecutter bit I got was a little large for these 1x1 "cubes". Think 2 1/4" holes on either side is enough ventilation?

Funny how this thread has gone from "Talkenlate Influenced" to apparently "Warpig Influenced"...

Thats should be fine, the important this is that you get cross ventilation, stale moist air will surely hurt avis.

Those hobby cubes must be a lil smaller than the small ones I use. I used a 1 1/4" hole saw and still had some room (just measured, the small hobbies I use are 2 1/4" wide.

Good job. I am also happy to help the hobby in any small measure:D

I have some of those 2-1/4" also. I bought these 1x months ago and haven't had any need for them since. I've got 3 A bicecoi coming from Xhexdx also so i guess now i can use 'em. The funny thing is, I want all 3 to be in the same setup (just because i'm anal like that) so i'll be driving a 60 mile round trip this afternoon to go to the Annapolis Michaels Craft store to pick up one 49 cent cube... :wall:

Maybe I'll go see Hancock while i'm there...
