I catch sun spiders in NM every so often, but I just caught one that appears to be pregnant! What do I do? I can't find anything on breeding them.

do a search ,there was a thread not to long ago on the same thing. Try typing solpugid eggs I think that might be the title.

Well, I did the search and it certainly was disheartening... Is there anyone here that has posted a log of successfully bred solifugids?

try gettin em out as soon as you see them. that might help (at least they won't get eaten that way ).

Caught another pregnant one. I think I'll keep the mothers in containers with 2 inches of sand from where they were collected, and prepare a hole beneath a piece of wood, and try to keep the humidity the same. Ug... I live near Chicago. How am I going to keep the containers that dry?

Today I spoke with a man who has been keeping them for 15 years. Only ONE laid.

Indoor air is as dry as any desert. How do you think ppl can sucessfully keep other desert spieces, like scorpions, without them getting mycosis?

Also, keep in mind these guys like to burrow, and burrows will stay cooler and more humid than the surroundings. A previous thread shows a egg mass that dried up due to the mom being housed on dry sand.

I currently have some eggs...and we'll see what happens.
