So I bought an awesome B. smithi from Ryan (Talkenlate04) about a week ago. My first one (T's look so much better in person than in pictures!), and it's a confirmed female and all. Well, I got home yesterday and checked on it and I noticed the peach-y bald patch on its abdomen had turned a black/dark gray shade. From what I've gathered, that means it could molt at any time. I'm so excited. I have 9 spiders and I've been in this hobby for only about two months, and this will be my first molt. I won't be home all weekend (going to Anchorage) so I'll probably miss it. I just hope she'll be okay and healthy!

Thats good news. Don't worry though she will be fine if she molts while you are away. Thats if she molts while your gone, they can turn dark and stay that way for awhile sometime before they actually molt.Make sure she has a ful water dish before you leave, my T.s always go for a big drink after a molt.

Thanks man. I'll definitely make sure she has a plethora of drink in her cage before I leave. Also wanted to ask you what are some good motels in Anchorage? My mom and I stayed at one when I was a kid, and when I asked her about it, she said, "Don't take her to that sleazy Spenard motel!" lol. That explains the free pornography. I'm looking for something cheap but on the "nicer" side, meaning, no prostitutes bringing their tricks in for the night. Something close to Dimond would be good too.

What kind of price range did you have in mind ?

About $50 to $90.
At this time of the year finding anything decent at that price is not going to be easy. You could try the Super 8 motel, 907-276-8884 or the Puffin Inn 243-4044 for starters.
Most anything nice will be at least $100 because of tourist season.Another thing you may try are some Bed and Breakfast places. If you are interested in that route let me know and I can look up some numbers for you.

Yeah, I know. It's probably better to wait after Labor Day but my girlfriend is really looking forward to the trip today. Plus, it's projected to rain all weekend! Ah well, whatever makes the women happy, right?

Thanks for your help, I'll check with Super 8. If anything, we'll just find something at $100-$120.

She's almost finished. When I left for work, she was just getting the last of it off her. It's an awesome experience - last night I saw her web and I knew it would be soon. I was on the computer this morning and remembered that she made it - looked over - surprise! My first molt!
