When does it stop??

Okay. I had this terrible fear of spiders. Stop breathing, etc. So I buy a G. rosea. Now I have 12 T's. Here's the issue...I've been having a ball with little jumping spiders lately. I still harbor a fear of crab spiders, but now I let jumping spiders jump from hand to hand.
I thought the addiction would stop at T's...?
Am I the only one who has fun with jumping spiders?

I have kept jumpers and honestly they are one of my fav. spiders...
They are a joy to watch and honestly have some of the coolest behaviors, all and all worth keeping if you are into spiders.

enjoy them, although I dont keep them at the moment I would take some in, in a NY min!

I, too, love jumping spiders. I have several "free range" jumpers who live in my house! Don't you love the way that they focus on your face? They are very neat little spiders.

You're not alone. If not for their tiny size and short lives my Ts would have some serious competition for being my favorite arthropod.

I love jumpers. Tried to keep some once, but it didn't really work -- their escape attempts would put the most crafty Usumbara to shame. I eventually gave up and set them free into my house :p

I actually tried to catch one once, it ran/jumped for a bit then turned and reared up into a threat posture.. Was kind of neat to see a spider smaller than a dime try to bite :p

How long do they live?

I got one as a gift from Pat Kane once during a visit to RI in the old days when he was still at regal. I was a mature Salticidae of some sort and I enjoyed its company for the better part of 6 months.

then one day it was stonecold dead without warning. I think I remember feeding it to one of my fish. I really liked that little bugger ... actually as far as jumpers go he was rather large. So my best guess for life span is .... 2 years or so.. I bet dealing with slings from that family of spid is pure nutz.

I caught a 1in. jumper on my window sill about a year ago. I'll tell the story. I seen this tiny head with big eyes peek at me on my windowsill across the room from me, and it ducked away. I didn't know what is was so I ran outa that room like you wouldn't beleive. That thing scared the carp out me! lol. So I went back, got brave to see what it was, turned out to be a jumping spider, never heard of the getting an inch so I caught it. Took crix as big as themselves, it got away about a month later, kinda miss it. But it was one of the coolest spiders i've ever had, awaome hunting habits.

I've ocassionaly seen them that big in Utah. The ones I saw had black and white striped legs. Then there are the kind that have bluegreen jaws. Way cool. And I agree if they got the size of Ts they'd be an awesome pet. . .I think (Visions of a Goliath sized jumper hopping around the house)

Anyone know where you can order these jumping spiders? I used to keep them as pets when I lived in Ca. I moved to Co. in the mountains, I never see them here. Maybe I could buy a couple from one of you that live in a place where they are plentyful?
