Hi,

Dont suppose anyone recognises these species?, they came in with a consignment of from Guyana. I have a feeling they are possibly some Ancylometes or similar species there. I know its unlikely to be able ID the species but was hoping to at least find out the genus or at least sub family. I need find out if they are considered dangerous and restricted here in the UK.

Any input appreciated

Cheers

Lee

These are the spiders I recieved:

Species 1:

The largest specimen I have is approx 9/10cm. Appears to Terrestrial I nature. It has two rows of white dots running down the back of the abdomen.

I'm pretty sure that most, if not all of these, are types of wolf spider.

NONE of these are wolf spiders.

As far as I can tell species 1, 2, 3 and 5 are from the family Ctenidae. 1, 2 and 3 looks an awful lot like Ancylometes. I have no guess on the genus of species 5.

Species 6 looks like a Heteropoda sp. to me too.

Really beautiful spiders! Should really get me some Ctenids...

Sorry, but neither of them are wolf spiders. They are mostly Acylomates or Ctenidae for instance. I would like Stephan in here identify them since he is very aware of that kind of family. Those look like the ones I have found in my house.

Sp. 5 looks a lot like a Ctenid. Most Ctenid are good climbers from what I have read.

Ctenid = from the family Ctenidae, like I said. The family Ctenidae includes the genera Ancylometes, Cupiennius and Phoneutria to name a few. Species number 5 doesn't seem to belong to any of these genera, but I can't tell to which it does belong.

Sp. number 5 looks like a Ctenus. I would like somone with more knowledge define this specie.
