No class today, so my friends and I went back to NJ to drop off some sheep at an auction. After dropping the sheep off, we decided to look around the barns to see what other animals were going to be sold. I tried looking for spiders, but found only Araneus and Pholcus. There were lots of flies around our dtruck(they loved what the sheep left behind in the truck :wicked: ) and some nice fields, so I kept my hopes up for any type of jumping spider. As luck would have it, a male Phidippus audax somehow got into the truck and was darting across the dashboard. I leapt forward from the backseat, container in hand(I have a knack for ALWAYS being prepared :wicked: ) and caught him. Later, I was looking in the back of the truck hoping to find some jumpers chasing flies, and luck struck again as I found a female audax stalking a fly. My friend and I got into the old, smelly sheep cage and used teamwork to coax it out from the wooden frame it was hiding in.
Trust me this time, they're audax for sure! Hopefully I can get some pics soon!
