Caught this girl today:

Different individual, same species:

Any help would be great. I ran some searches both here and on google but didn't turn up anything that looked the same.

top one looks like regius, actually they both could be regius, P. otiosis has color on both sides black down the center of the carapace. P. regius have several color phases

are they gravid or just large females?:?

I have a female "black form" P. otiosus. These are awesome little spiders. :D

thought so usually their abdomen is much smaller
otiosis also have more leg banding. Joe are you North of lake Okeechobee?

yep. thats what I say and I'm stickin to it:D I first was gonna say otiosis but the map says they dont go past Lk Okeechobee, but I know how range maps are. Also the otiosis i've seen had allot of yellow.
Unless someone proves otherwise:o

Ah, no wonder these look different from mine. :p Figured mine was just different because she's "black form" but mine is def. otiosus.

Man, running a google image search finds all kinds of crap that's labeled wrong...
Phidippus regius, eh? I'll take it. :-P
The specimen in the second picture I released, the one in the first pic I'm keeping. Hopefully she'll eat well and drop a sac.

yeah you got that right. I get allot of papers from UF=good references. They sell them at a book store in Mycanopy FL., Thats pronounced, Mick-an-opie, but I haven't been there in a few years so I do not know if they are still open.
