1st. What are some recommended spiders for true spider beginners. I like jumping spiders, but also am very interested in black widows - though hesitant because of lack of proper understanding. Is there something similar to a black widow, that is common for true spider keepers.
Please share info, about good beginner 'true spiders'
2nd, okay so above i mentioned I'm a true spider beginner, but i semi lied lol, i have collected several house spiders the past months to keep in a jar for several day and to observe, but usually letting them go. The other day i collected several different house spiders and put them in a very tall jar with a very thin branch.
Has anyone kept spider communals?
These two are very different in sizes, have crossed paths quite a bit, especially when i threw 2 pin head crickets in there. They were webbing it up, in and around each others territories.
False widows (Steatoda) live many places that black widows do, they are a good starter species being much less medically significant than black widows with similar behavior.
If you have spiders of different sizes in a communal setup, unless they are specifically communal, which very few are, the larger one will eat the smaller one, sooner or later.

hmmm, steatoda work great! although i must say, i started (yes, very first) on black widows at a young age. just gotta respect em a little, that's all. jumping spiders are sweet, but different in regards to setup than a black widow. true spiders are generally pretty easy and very fun to keep. i like them a little more than Ts, and that's hard to do ;)

not very many true spiders are communal. if you are looking for a sweet communal species, very similar to widows, get yourself a bunch of steatoda borealis. i find them crammed and jammed into the smallest spaces, and there will be like 20 of them in there
any other questions?? ;)
