Hey guys (and gals). Found this little guy indoors. Looks like some sort of Philodromidae (running crab spider) to me... can't find any pic of this particular species tho. Collected in Sweden, northern Europe.

Yeah, they are supperfast... I have 3 Selenops WC, but they are brown, not as pretty as the ones shown in the pictures.

Pretty sure that Selenops aren't found this far north in Europe...

And yeah, he is really pretty :) (and really fast!)

Is it flat???

Is it flat???

Flat is a pretty relevant term...

@ the op: Philodromidae is as far as I can get you.
(Not Selenopidae due to the two rows of 4 eyes and apparent lack of trichobothria on lower leg segments. Not to mention the non-oval abdomen...)

Thanks for your help guys, and I got as good an ID as I can get on the Swedish board. Philodromus margaritatus seems pretty accurate (that is, of course, if the pics I've seen are correctly IDd).

It really looks similar to a Selenops.
Nice specimen.

That is the coolest true spider i have seen in a long time! I love how it looks like it has a skull patterned into it. Very neat :)

Nice looking spider!

Philodromus is what I was thinking, too, based on the eyes: the posterior median eyes look to be closer to the posterior lateral eyes than they are to each other. Check to see if the AME are about the same diameter as the ALE. That's another Philodromus trait.

Yes, I think this ID is correct. You've got only 12 Philodromus species in Sweden:
Philodromus aureolus (Clerck 1758)
Philodromus cespitum (Walckenaer 1802)
Philodromus collinus C.L. Koch 1835
Philodromus dispar Walckenaer 1826
Philodromus emarginatus (Schrank 1803)
Philodromus fallax Sundevall 1833
Philodromus fuscomarginatus (De Geer 1778)
Philodromus histrio (Latreille 1819)
Philodromus margaritatus (Clerck 1758)
Philodromus poecilus (Thorell 1872)
Philodromus praedatus O. P.-Cambridge 1871
Philodromus rufus Walckenaer 1826

and only this one looks similar to Philodromus margaritatus. I've never seen this kind of colour form of this specie. Very beautiful.

I also captured some of them last weekend. They can be easlily found under the bark of conifer trees, sometimes in large numbers.

Here are some of them:

hi,
especially Philodromus margaritatus is pretty variable in regard to coloration. IŽd say yours is P. margaritatus
