After lurking around and checking out all of the great pics around here, I've started to consider getting an Orange Huntsman/Thelcticopis modesta. However, I know nothing about them such as there captive care, temperment, lifespan, ect. I've tried searching but not too much comes up so if anyone who has experience with these nifty spiders could share their info I'd appreciate it.

Really easy to keep... They need humid enclosures and food. They are extremely fast, but they don't move until you touch them or hit their box/tank. This means you can remove skins, clean the box, whatever you want without problems. My ones have never tried to bite me, they're pretty calm.
They become adult a bit more then a year.

I think these bright orange fuzzy Huntman are pretty cool. Any idea on lifespan?... Thats really why I have'nt spent the cash on any before. I figured they might only live a year or less and I've gotten used to my T's being around forever!

Hi

Thelcticopis modesta can be 2 up to 3 years old, from the beginning of walking around^^

btw I've heard from a great source that these are not T. modesta, even not Thelcticopis..

I've got a virgin female sling I raised up for 3 years now...she produced her first sac a couple of months ago so I'm thinking she might be nearing the end....but they are awesome...don't hesitate to get one.

I wouldn't handle one but they are pretty easy going as far as huntsman spiders go.
