I have kept a pet brown recluse for the past few months, mostly for curiosity and to observe how exactly they behave. For the most part, the little gal has been boring, spending most of her time hiding and making a small tangle web.

Well, today I discovered she is going to be a mommy. While I am aware that recluses are not the hyper death machines many laymen believe them to be, and I have talked with several people who find them by the hundreds in late summer and have never been bitten (I got the spider from one of them), I do not want to risk a potential "infestation". I know recluses are known for easily forming isolated populations. While I do know that the adult can not climb the plastic kritter keeper I have her in, I do not know about spiderlings. Has anyone had any experience to suggest that spiderlings might be able to?

I prefer not to destroy the eggsack or the spider it's self, but am otherwise unsure what to do.

Any suggestions?

The best option is to remove the eggsac(and whatever it is on) to another, more secure enclosure.

yep, exactly. if you are worried in the least about them getting out, put them in a secure container (maybe even airtight if you're really concerned).

A vial with airholes in the lid and a piece of pantyhose material between lid and vial would do the job. I used that for latrodectus sacs and they hatched out fine.

This is what I did for my widow sac, a cube with no holes, I open it up 1x a day(till they hatch anyways).
Ill drill some holes in it, once I know what size drill bit to use . . . ;)
