Hi
last September my wasp Spider layed 2 egg sacs, and thinking they should of hatched by now, i opened the egg sacs to find lots of dead spiders in them.
I had kept the sacs in the shed all winter in jars with pin hole ventilation. The only thing that i think may of happened is that they got to cold, we had a sharp cold spell for a while.
Would anyone have an idea as to what may of happened? whould it of been the cold spell that may of killed them?
Im a bit gutted as i've waited over 6 months for these to hatch.
Many thanks

sorry to hear about that, it can be disappointing :(

wasp spider is an argiope? :?

and maybe could have been the cold, humidity levels, failure to bust out of the sac, several other reasons or a combo. hard to say really. i might wait til the weather stays warm for awhile and try again if you can. with the warm constant weather, it might be better. besides, s-lings don't typically hatch in the dead of winter. (not here in cold CO anyway ;))
