I've had this cool little jumping spider for about 7 months and it's doing great. Yesterday I looked into its setup and there is an eggsac, I haven't kept it with any other jumping spiders. So my question is, After about 7 months of having this spider how does it lay an eggsac now?
I'm not very experienced outside of the world of scorps, T's and centipedes. So some info about this would be appreciated.

A lot of jumping spiders mate in fall and lay a sac by the beginning of spring. At least that was the case for my P. audax female...Either way I believe it is true for most if not all spiders to be able to store sperm until their next molt. I've heard of people who had their spiders (tarantulas) just drop dud egg sacs out of nowhere like how a pet bird does at times. So, that could be also. Hopefully it will hatch, you will most likely see a large black cloud of babies in the coming weeks!!!

My smallest female P. audax has laid one dud egg sac, and is sitting on a second larger clutch of eggs (which I also believe to be duds), which she laid a week and a half ago. She is very protective of this last egg sac. I almost feel sorry for her; she seems as though she really wants them to hatch.
There is a chance of the wild male I saw a few months ago having fertilised this batch, but I haven't seen any sign of him around my three females.
If these eggs aren't good, I REALLY need to find her a male, so she doesn't waste her mana shooting blanks.

I hope to see some babies soon! :D
Also another question, Will the majority of the babies come out looking like the mother? And how would I do about taking care of them?

Depends on the species...after a couple molts they may show the color adults show or it might be completely different. The little P. audax I have that just hatched were brown a few days ago, now they are black and about to molt again. Do you have any pics of the mother? I wunna see her :)

And how would I do about taking care of them?
I'm about to find out myself...they are SOOOO tiny! I've just been misting their web and I think after this next molt I'll crush a small cricket and shove it into the web chamber to see if they will share. Once they started to disperse I planned to just let them ago...

I have 2 P. johnsoni females. So far I've gotten 1 fertilized batch of eggs. I think there might be under 10 slings. They're dark grey with orange legs. I have 2 other sacs of eggs from the two jumpers and I feed the mothers by sticking the live prey with the tweezers in the chamber. Only when they've attacked it and held on did I leave them be. I seperated the slings from the mother last week, now I'm just waiting for them to enter a more active stage. All they do for right now is sit in the spider silk, walk around little (no jumping at all!) and drink a little water.
I want to get a male sometime this month to keep the fertile eggs going. I read the amount of fertilized eggs will dampen down after a while. But first I'd like to give the two a break from mothering to fatten up and stretch their limbs. Hehe!

My eldest female laid four egg sacs, within the first five months I had her, without even being re-bred. She was shipped to me with a large egg sac she had already made, while in care of the previous owner. So yes, they can store the spermataphore in their spermathecae for an indefinite amount of time.
Are you sure a wild male didn't get in with her, or she's not shooting blanks?
