Found this unholy predator stalking grubs in extreme SW Washington, Long Beach/Ilwaco area

wow, that's beautiful. how many did you catch? it's a pretty size too.

awesome didn't know we had Scolopendramorpha in WA state. I will have to look for those and other inverts next time I go to the coast.

Just this one and another that may be Cryptops hortensis(?). The possible C. hortensis is on eggs right now, so no pics yet. Of course, I have no means of verifying these species as I have no key, just Cacoseraph's 'pede list by state & the glorious folks at Bugguide.net. Happy hunting!

BTW, Caco's list shows S. polymorpha may be over near your area, Travis: S. Idaho & Walla Walla-ish;)

Maybe 3" when fully stretched out, but that's pushing it. I'm power feeding a Callobius severus right now that's gotten bigger than any I've ever seen. As part of my summer experimentation plot, I'm going to do the same w/ this creature.
