According to "The Country Life Guide to Spiders of Britain and Northern Europe" by Dick Jones, 1983, there are atleast 29 species of Salticidae in UK. Some are rare and local, and some are very small.
This info might be very outdated, and some species might be less rare nowadays, or the other way around.
The biggest UK species would probably be Marpissa muscosa and Marpissa radiata, which grows to about 8-10mm. There are also a number of species at about 7mm.

thanks for the info erik, i'll be on the lookout for M. muscosa! shame that it's more abundant in the south and east (love you wikipedia), since i'm way up north. but i'll be looking.
