Hi everyone.

Just snapped some pics , this one molted again recently, and he's retaining those colorful legs I love so much. ~5"

Love this guy, slow and docile. Except dinner time, of course.

Definitely a must have for any pede keeper, Beautiful.

Nice pede! Alternans are great! I have to say the Scolopendra subspinipes "Barbados", angulata, and alternans rank on the top of my fav 5 list of pedes.

Thanks!

Yeah, I agree with your top choices, I've recently acquired all of them mentioned, and they are all great lookin' pedes.

My Barbados has a heck-of-a temper though! Lord have mercy! lol. It makes my others look like little school girls. It literally charges at anything that moves or makes noise. Keeps me on my toes, though. ;P

Great pics of a great specimen! VERY NICE indeed! Congratulations!

I love that they have different temperaments, even within the same species. Ironically enough, my most aggro 'pede is a sc. polymorpha. None of my 'pedes are mellow, but that polymorpha will keep attacking my tweezers even after it should apparent that it's an inanimate object.

Is there any noticeable, visual difference between S. alternans found in FL & those found in the Carribean? Just curious. Love those blue tips:)

Mine looks like the one in the pic above, they've got holes all over and bolt down with any vibration. That guy looks like he's a little hungry:drool:

I also have a Haitian. But mine is a little darker and a little bigger than than
yours.Haiti has a few different types of H.Alternans and you never know
what you got until you have it for a while.Thay have a giant that will grow
9"+ or thay have a dark brown without the black bands that barely reaches
5".Thay also have a third type that looks just like that giant in color. But only
gets about 6-1/2" or maybe 7".This is the one I have.See is 6"+ and I know
it's a she.Because she laid a clutch of eggs about 6 months after I got her.
She also ate her eggs about 2 weeks after she laid them.I don't know if thay
are different because of the location thay were collected or are thay a
different sub-species.I see new imports every 2 or 3 months with 50 to 100
specimens. Each import is mix up with a couple of different kinds. The last 2
imports were the 2 smaller pedes.Hopefully the giants will come again soon.

That was good info. Well, looks like I've got the smaller ones then which I was thinking anyway. The mom was 5-6 inches.

Great info! I have one of the dark morph females as well. She is about 6inches right now. Very nice colors on this morph with army green leg bands.
