Congrats! Our Miss Spider's sac just hatched a few days ago and you will just love all the little Rosie babies running around everywhere - they're so darn cute! I don't care what anyone says, Grammastola Rosea is a wonderful spider!

Hey all,
I put Harold and Charlotte together again, and they hooked up again. However today it looked like she was going to "win" this round. We got Harold out and he is safe in his own home.
Thanks to all for your comments and I took your advice and changed all my T's homes to peat.

Everyone always says not to use that kind of substrate. Is there any evidence that tarantulas do not thrive as well on this? Probably not, but I would love to see some.

Very cool! Hey quick question though. I have mf and mm due you always see the sperm web or can you put them toghther anyway? Male is sooo ready for her. (typical male, hee hee) :wicked:

That substrate can be very abrasive, and does not allow any kind of burrowing behavior. If you have a heavy bodied species, for example, Brachypelma albopilosum, such a substrate can cause abrasions on the ventral side of the abdomen. Also, it is very dangerous in the event of a fall (you should prevent a fall in the first place though). Peat or coconut fiber, even topsoil, is a much better choice.

Well, i checked on the kids today and Charlotte had changed her "clothes", lol. I guess well start over in a couple of weeks.

Well we put Charlotte and Harold together today, after noticing Harold spun his sperm webs this afternoon.
I put Harold in her enclosure, he went to a corner and sat for about ten minutes, charlotte was in her hide. After the ten minutes she came out of her hide walked up to harold, which freaked me, she touched him for about a minute then he slowly turned around and then they hooked up. It looked like a successful insertion, my wife could even tell what was happening.
Sorry this is going on so long, just that the sequence of events was really cool this time.
Anyway we'll see if she gets bigger, ill keep y'all infod up.

Sept 16 was the last time we had Charlotte and Harold together.
I thought they had a good time, but she's not looking bigger.
Well today I noticed Charlotte was walking around and so was Harold. Just noticed Harold was spinning his sperm web and actually saw him "going under" the web. Since I dont have a good camera or good lighting Im not trying to get pics or vid, however it was pretty cool seeing this process in front of me.
Anyway, were gonna put them back together this weekend. Hopefully this time...
