Hey, it is sunday and it is boring so I was thinking about making a quiz for you guys!

Here is a pic of a centipede clutch. Just guess the species. Small hint: It is still a rare species in the hobby and maybe the first successful clutch of this species in europe...

Now come on and guess the species!

if its hermosa i would say its far from rare, but yeah i doubt anyone bred those.

Those funny looking babies remind me of a galapagoensis and a gigantea clutch.
They had the same awkward shaping which is strange for a pling.

I ll try find some pics later

Ok, Scolopendre hermosa is the right answer!

Something strange: I had more clutches of S. hermosa and in every case, the mother was gone. When I separated the pedelings I couldn`t find the mother any more. Maybe in this species the mother is the first food for the pedelings???

Congrats!

S.hermosa is still rare in the hobby,
but this species was bread by me about three years ago /early winter 2007/
My female die not after give the youngs,
I don't think the mom is food for the offspring!

Oh sorry, I forgot that it is the most profitable way of selling animals: keeping them two years and sell it then... sorry, Peter, but this sounds not true...

do you have any pics of the pedelings?

btw: S. hermosa almost looks pregnant,.....

Christian some times it depends on the species.
Some species are worth raising before selling, some are not. And it always depends on how patient someone is.

(As a personal note hermosa isnt even worth as adults but i am sure others dont share my view)

Btw just had 50-60 s.subspinipes barbados plings and around 5-10 escaping :D
Happy daaaad :p
