Found this in my bathroom

Hi there,

I found this spider in my bathroom. I live in England.

I had no idea what it was so I took a picture. I rarely see spiders where I live so to find one this large was a surprise and I'm curious to know what it is?

Wolf spider of some sort? If I'm not mistaken they are one of the only types of spiders in your area that get very big. Could be wrong. Deffinatly a mature male though.

Without a close up of the genitalia or pedipalps it would be hard to name it conclusively. Would be guesswork at best...

True, but I'd compare it to Tegenaria duellica before anything else.

Looks just like the Tegenaria gigantea I now have for a pet.

Pretty amazing how far those spiders traveled, since we have tons of them here in Washington State. :D

hi,
could also be Tegenaria atrica. Without taking a look at the apophysis (straight at T. atrica; hookshaped at T. duellica) and the bulbus (serrate at T. duellica AND T. saeva; rather smooth at T. atrica) it is impossible to ID further than to genus (certainly Tegenaria!).

T. gigantea = T. duellica ;)

Those dudes freak me out... you can come over to my house and collect as many as you want!!:)
