I have noticed that on some of the importers lists they are starting to include true spiders. I was wondering if they would start importing widow and jumping spiders if we let them know what we want. There are widow breeders in other parts of the world they could buy from. Collectors could also catch native jumping spiders. Are there any restrictions on importers bringing these in or is there not enough interest from other people to make in profitable to them?

we are working on importing certain species of widows right now. i'm sure there are some species that are hard to get/export.

anything specific widow-wise?

I am just looking for new species in the hobby. There is some access to exotic widows, but not much for jumping spiders. I see a lot of people importing inverts from China, Africa, and other parts of the world. I would like to see widows and jumping spiders from other countries become available. I believe there are a lot of true spider enthusiasts that would like to work with more species. I know I would. I was thinking if enough of us contacted those doing the importing, they would see enough interest to have their suppliers include some of these in their shipments. This has already happened with centi/millipedes. They are several more species available to hobbyist now than in the past.

the problem with jumpers is that they're very small
the biggest one is about an inch long
unless there's a huge tropical species out there, which would be great

well the M.m. shouldn't be bad, they can be found in the south near the border.
and the treds are from a slightly different locale, at least we have them, right?!
i have seen some antheratus in the US, last year i believe.

I'd love to get some portia and especially some of the jumping spiders of Japan. Some get over half an inch.
