I think it was more of an animal mistreatment issue, or so the story goes....

Also sounds to me like the keeper(s) was neglecting them (dead animals in the same cage with live ones, turtles swimming in toxic soup with dead turtles, etc.). Though that's not surprising since they had THAT many animals.

These people are responsible for the decimation of many native populations of US animals.

It's disgusting that this stuff happens. There was a pet store near where I lived in NY that was raided by some humane society group. They had a ton of exotics upstairs, dead, overcrowded, etc. The saddest part there, was that downstairs was an amazing pet store. Everything was kept nicely, it was clean, things had the water and food they needed, etc.

It also saddens me, that a lot of these animals won't end up somewhere where they will get the care they need. Even those that are with SPCA and such won't be cared for, because they are exotics. Heck, even ferrets suffered at the SPCA in NY, as they had no idea to care for em. I guess they didn't believe in the internet.
