As Alex advised me, here's a question on the exact name of my Nephila. I've found a picture of the spider, but the scientific name was not mentioned. It is the first picture on the page (the one with the text: photo: martin huber)

Hey Arachnojoost, that is the species Nephila clavipes, commonly known as the North American gold orb-web or silk spider. They are the largest web-construsting spider in the USA and can be common in the South. Very cool species indeed :)

This species does have colour differences in the abdomen and leg coloration from individual to individual (or ssp. of clavipes??), so I found it hard to find the correct name for her. The picture I mentioned in the first post is a spitting image of mine.
