I have Blaberus giganteus, Blaberus cranifer, Blaptica dubia, and Madagscan hissing cockroaches. None of these bite! Blaberus giganteus grows to 7-8cm, but it does not bite even when I grab it tightly (when it wants to escape from my hand and so I have to catch it fast). I can feel as it pushes my hand with its spiny legs as it wants to slip out between my fingers but it does not hurt at all. They are very nice creatures with their long flexible antennae. And the above mentioned species have no odor at all (like some other cockroaches). I love them.
And the species photographed by Wayne is: Eublaberus distanti
Longboard1: I have actually been bitten by a male B. Dubia. Not very hard but it was a surprisingly hard little pinch. I had been cutting up oranges before handeling it so I figure that's the reason why he bit me.
