and yes Phillip, another G. alticeps person here. Very underrated Grammostola IMO. Unfortunately, the two I have are both subadult males. I'll keep you in mind as from your pics, I'm guessing you have a female... ;)

It is indeed a female so do keep me in mind. I tried breeding her once before and the male hooked up several times before getting nuked but alas she went and molted on me a short while afterwards. The males look real nice when mature.

Yeah, she hasn't eaten anything. I do see her drink though.
Once I thought she had eaten a cricket but I think the other cricket ate it. She just doesn't like anything. I put all kinds of stuff for her to eat and she just webs it so I have to take it out the next day.

Little Fouscous molted a few weeks ago... My good battery for my digicam fried maybe a couple weeks before, and the battery it came with, well needs a battery so it might last over 15-20 minutes. But I didn't have much to do today, and dealt with the 45min charge time. And too looks of pictures of my babies/slings. Someday, maybe 5-9 years I can add their grown picture as well. But Fouscous is looking like adult colors are about to burst out next molt

Oh, Fousous is a Grammostola chalcothrix :)

Mendi
12-06-2004, 10:50 PM
And of course Mendi Jr has to molt in the same time frame, but she's still looking rather fresh, and growing faster than I'm used to having Gramm's grow

She's not as large as Fouscous but did get a good but larger this molt

Mendi.jr. is a Grammostola mendozae

I included a picture back when I got her, She's done a good bit of growing these 6 montha :D

Just a G. rosea who no longer lives with me any more. As you can see, we became quite good friends when she did, though... we used to sit like that (her hangin out on my face, haha) and watch TV "together" every day, haha.
*Note- before anybody comments about it... I WAS laying back in a chair, I don't think there's any way she could have fallen and done any serious damage, and yes, I know it's not a good idea, for *my* sake, either... but I sat with her like that EVERY day, she never once went into a threat posture, or kicked hairs at me, at any time...she was my little buddy, haha.

Thank you for the compliment {D
I hope it's a correctly ID'ed G. mendozae (it's the specimen of a friend of mine), as it had an eggsac some time ago and all slings died during the first moults (sign for crossbreeding??)...
Additionally, i have seen pics of quite different looking Grammos labelled as G. mendozae.
Never the less, it's supposed to be the real G. mendozae, and it's a very nice spider...

Wow, that's almost exactly the situation i'm in :)
How long since the egg sac was dropped?
Right now, i've got the entire sac in a similar set up due to there being no eggs w/legs yet. Would it be recommended to remove the eggs from the sac and have them loose in the hammock?

She dropped it on Oct 21st I took the eggsac away on Nov 23rd. and I opened mine up right away and poured in. Then I took out the dead eggs (which are really dark) They didmt have leggs til last night. I also kept the contaner in her tank that way dont have to worry about the humiidaty and heat. So far my female hasnt tried getting into the contaner but she does sit on top often. Just sits on it. I will keep everyone updated.

She got a little frisky during some routine maintenance and mistook my replacing of her water bowl as a tasty prey item. Can't exactly say that this is a threat pose (she wasn't angry, just expecting a feed). A couple of large crickets later and she became her usual passive self. Sorry bout the quality of the picture, seems as though her shiny velvet "coat" just reflects the flash from the camera giving the appearance of out of focus.

nah, my dad has a bunch of nice big plants and I use the base of them for a photo background. For quick/aggressive species, you won't be seeing the same thing. ;)

Well normally I don't like them, but I must admit the red phase is just beautiful. Is it true they have a completely different temperament from the normal colour form ones? I heard they are more defensive in nature.

Great pics as usual Metallica:)

I'm not sure how I came across this post since it seems to be from 2004, but I'm glad that I did - there are two gorgeous specimens in this thread that I just added to my wish list - Trevor's gonna kill me lol - that or bust a gut laughing.

That G. grossa is one of the most stunning T's I've ever seen a pic of   - are those it's true colours? (Black and Silver). I also have to get me one of those G. chalcothrix - I love fuzzy/long haired T's. Same question as for the G. grossa about it's true colours displayed in the pic. Is there any where I can go to see pics of all the known Grammastola family members?

Any help and information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. :D

the G. pulchra and G. rosea are currently on a ground walnut bedding. i plan to move them all onto a potting soil mixture when i move in may. they don't seem to mind the current bedding at all, but it's just cheaper to use potting soil and peat moss.
