I don't think undergravel filters are super great for semi aquatic reptiles and amphibians even fully aquatic ones.... Just seems like a pain imo. I'd rather stick to a whisper i40 intank filter or a fluval intank filter. Because they're able to be used in shallow water as well; they are clean and good. Just my personal opinion though.

Hi,

The main complaint I hear of is the need to siphon...some folks find this more troublesome than media changes, etc., which others enjoy not having to break down an outside filter, buy new cartridges and such, etc. Both options are very effective if attention is paid to routine maintenance (like most things, I guess!),
