from the angle, can't say but i'd be more concerned about the lump on its abdomen if you've noticed. looks like a growing cyst or something

I did notice that and will be watching...my suspicion is that its more like a callous, if that is even possible on a tarantula. I just got a few new spiders, (this being one of them) and the substrate was dense and hard. I think it may be a combo of fat spider on a hard, coarse substrate.

I'll say female though, I have a C.fasciatum too at about 3 inches. She's in premolt now and probably maturing. Her epigastric furrow looks like a lot like yours except it's really dark and the hairs looks like they're combed down on it (kind of like the bangs on a bowl cut hairstyle)

From the pics it looks like it's female. Just sex the molt to confirm.

^Yeah, just speculating until moult time...
I watched mine walk the side of the enclosure, when it flexed going around the corner the epigastric area became more exposed, I could see the distinct white furrow. If it is a male, my friend has a female, so it'll still be ok. And it was only $10.
