Where do springtails come from?

So I noticed some tiny white jumpy things in my geniculata's enclosure yesterday, and I assume they are springtails. The question I have is simple. How do they get into enclosures in the first place?

They could of been on an old piece of wood you placed in there or some substrate or maybe even a damp rock.

They could also possibly be little crickets. I've had several occasions where gravid female crickets laid eggs in an enclosure, resulting in tiny crickets.

These are definitely smaller than crickets, and I haven't changed anything in her enclosure. It's really frigging weird...
