"Cane Spider" = Heteropoda?

I grew up in Florida, where the Heteropoda Venatoria (Huntsman Spider) was a frequent - and often unwelcome - guest in our home during the summer months.

Recently I was informed about a common spider in Hawaii colloquially referred to as the "Cane Spider". Below are some links with pictures:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this so-called "Cane Spider" looks almost exactly like the Heteropoda Venatoria. Is it in fact the same species? Or is it related in some way?

According to the first link, its a introduced species and yes it looks very much like H. venatoria.

Can anyone verify the etymology of the cane spider, to see if in fact it is related to the heteropoda?

I doubt that because common names are seldom logical. I dont think its just related, its the same species as H. venatoria.

Where I grew up (Florida), people always referred to h. venatorias as "wolf spiders" - which if course they aren't.
