Hi all...
A collection of this fine spider would be pretty nifty... Also any pictures that give a scale reference would be most appreciated.
I've posted one of mine with a scale reference. That mystical gold orb is one English Pound coin, joyous.
Let me know if I'm out of line with the picture posting.... :}

you guys take care of yours? Does it need to be
kept moist? Nervous about this because I haven't

No mate keep it dry like brachypelma sp and just keep a full water dish as sling just a slight mist on the glass for it to drink, they are kind nerves and abit skittish but nothing to worry about!
Nice pics everyone - the colours on these things are some of the best ive seen.
This is going to have to be the next T I get, though ive only seen them for sale once in the Uk and I forget where that was.
Hopefully there will be a few crawling aroung the BTS show :)

The time till she'll have her next molt depends strongly on how much you feed and the temperature she is kept.
judging from the size of her behind she' feeding well {D
My GBB grew quite quickly out of her juvenile colours, so my guess would be another 2 month till the next molt

It would be difficult to sex one that small. Wait till it is about 3 inches and you can sex it with a molt

Normally, this girl lives in my office, but due to a natural disaster there she had to be moved. My basement bugroom tends to have very high humidity much of the time, and since GBB's have a reputation for doing poorly in such a setting, I elected to send her to live at my sister's (Linsey Pyne) house until the office gets repaired. She (my sister) was able to snap off this very impressive picture when she (the spider) molted this past weekened.

Actually you know what? Ginger is a MALE, but I name all my T's when I get them as spiderlings and by the time I find out what gender they are they already have an "identity" to me! You'd sex these just like any other T - look for a flap and if you don't see one you probably have another male :( Right now 10 of mine are sexed and I have 5 known females and 5 known males. I guess that's fair...

Best bet is to wait for a molt - it will be on the inside of the abdomen. There are many sexing threads on the boards. Do a search and you'll see many great close-up shots of what to look for. If you have the Tarantula Keeper's Guide, see page 51. If you don't, it's a must have!

Here are some recent pictures of mating Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens. I bred both my females last year and had both of them lay eggsacs. One eggsac got eaten, the other I got 100+ slings from.
I'm breeding them both again now. This is the girl who ate her sac last year... I won't give her that chance again! He appeared to get a nice solid insert. She went for the kill after mating (of course!) and managed to tear off one of his front legs. But he seems to be doing fine and took a meal last night. He'll be going in with my other girl in the next few days.

nice pics  i am breeding this specie as well, last night was the first successfull pairing, male made an excellent insertion with both palps one than the other, i was able to see the females furrow (not sure if that correct term) was split wide open with ther constantly walking around with her abdomen raised high in the air, then she was using her back legs to rub the furrow area this went on for about an hour after the insertion then she settled down. good luck

It's legs got a lot darker a few days after that picture. It sure was hungry too. I threw in a cricket and it got away a couple times but it kept hunting it down. :)

Always a looker and though it was one of the first Tarantulas I aquired I always come back to oggle some more pictures of C. cyaneopubescens. Not much in the animal kingdom looks as stunning as these. Also, not to be artsy fartsy or anything but Complimentary colors are always attention getters.

Today is moving day with my GBB. S/he has outgrown the little hide and the little kritter keeper as well. I had just misted so the web is a little damp. Notice the leg in the lower left corner of the web in the first picture, and the leg just inside the pot in the second picture. This T is an incredible hunter/ eater and one of my favorites.

maybe with a microscope, but you'd have to be looking at the interior of the exuvium...you wouldn't be able to tell from the outside until it was about 3" at least. even then, theres a chance you could be wrong.

Very Nice, Mark. I just sent you an email reply not 5 minutes ago or you can PM me in this forum would be better. Let me know if you have any slings available from her in the future. Seeing what color is produced by that breeding would very interesting for sure.

Nothing interesting. Be sure, after the molt, this specimen will look just like any other ordinary Chromatopelma...

I don't handle any of my T's unless it's an emergency but from what I hear these guys are not too good for handleing.

My adult female will kick hair the odd time but not too much.
I don't think I have ever seen any of my little ones kick hairs.
