Hi,

And as martin H said, L cristata is now Nhandu chromatus.I didn't say this and that's also not correct!
Lasiodora cristata sensu Mello-Leitão 1923 is still Lasiodora cristata, BUT the species which has been sold in the pet trade in the last years as "Vitalius cristatus / Lasiodora cristata" has been recently described as Nhandu chromatus!

all the best,

but I think your "A. fracta" is not correctly IDed, I think it's a Lasiodorides sp. blue (often sold as E. pulcherrimaklaasi).

Dont count on that.

And I agree, it looks like those spiders that was sold as "peruvian birdeater" and also as E. pulcherimaklaasi.
As far as I remember it could be a Paraphysa sp.

For some reason it's not possible to send PM's to you Martin... :?

I bought it from Herwig Kahlenberg.

I've been lookin gat alot of pictures and A fracta and E pulcherimaklaasi seems to be very similar and the pictures I've seen are quite different and some look like my "A fracta" and some don't.

The biggest difference among the pictures is the orange line in front of the carapace.

A fracta or not..that's the question...

I've sent Kahelberg an email and i will keep you updated.

I was talking about the species that was sold here in Sweden as "peruvian birdeater" or "E. pulcherimusklaasi" - which look alot like the A. fracta Aftershock got.

A few differencies of these two genus:

Generic key to Acanthosurria (from "Tarantula ID guide" - Smith):
No stridulating bristles on coxae of palp and leg 1.

Generic key to Paraphysa ((from "Tarantula ID guide" - Smith):
Anterior side of trochanter, coxae and femur of leg 1 is uniformly clothed with long bristles.

Hi,

A altmanni, this species is very similiar to Nhandu carpoensis. I've got three large juveniles.recently BERTANI & DA SILVA (2004) have synonymized A. altmanni sensu Schmidt 2003 with A. chacoana sensu Brèthes, 1909. See: BERTANI, R. & P. I. DA SILVA JR (2004): Notes on Acanthoscurria chacoana Brèthes, 1909 (Araneae: Theraphosidae) in Brazil, and its synonymy with Acanthoscurria altmanni Schmidt, 2003. Zootaxa (http://www.mapress.com/zootaxa/content.html) 648: 1-8.

abstract:
The types of Acanthoscurria chacoana, a species described from Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay were studied and compared with Brazilian material. Spermathecal and palpal bulb morphology was found to exhibit a high degree of variability, both within and between populations. A. chacoana can be distinguished by male having a short, thickened embolus with a very long, narrow prolateral inferior keel, and female having fused spermathecae that are typically longer than wide, with their terminal receptacles close together. Its geographical distribution is extended into Brazil within and around the ‘Pantanal Matogrossense’ region. The species Acanthoscurria altmanni Schmidt, 2003 is considered a junior synonym of A. chacoana.
