ok so i was in the springfield area in massachuesetts today, just checking out the area, and i see this big pet shop, called 'Dave's Soda and Pet City in Agawam Mass and Springfield Mass.
ok, the place seemed really nice, both the ones i went to were semi-idenctical, big nice supply store really with some pets thrown into the mix
lots of fish, lots of fuzzy things, some birds and a nice little reptile section, but thrown in there just for fun, Emperor Scorpions. Ok, excuse me for a second, but I was extremely pissed off to see how they were housing their Emperor scorpions and then i went to tell the person, he argued with me.
at agawam, they had 3 or so adult emps, in a small tank, on SAND with no hides, under a permanent black light... ok, if thats bad enough, the springfield store had 6 or so adult emps in the same small tank, 2 dead that i can see, still on sand with some hides... now come on, i told the kid working there that it was a JUNGLE species and there were at least 2 dead ones in there, what does he say?
"Oh, well, we had some in the same tank that did pretty well for the 6 months they were in there."
trying not to sound like a jerk, i told him that the baby leopard geckos, which were on bark, would do alot better in the sand and the emps would do so much better on the bark(better than sand at least)
another story about stupid pet store employees, i feel real bad for the emps, i would have purchased them, but none were looking too healthy and i didnt have the money for it
if you go to Dave's, you will see, other than that, its a pretty nice store, for supplies.
