Found my big blondi boy in the death curl last night. At least I got a few pictures this summer.

Any ideas on possible cause of death?

Oh Maggie, I know you've been dreading this moment ever since Windsor matured. I'm so sorry to hear he's gone!

Thanks, all. Windsor was my first tarantula, and he was largely responsible for getting me over my arachnophobia.

As for cause of death, his ultimate molt was just shy of a year ago, so probably it was natural. No mites on him or in his terrarium, no (known) pesticide exposure, and his temperature and humidity were stable. I'm going to send him to Kerry at RIESM for research purposes, so he'll still be doing some good for awhile.

He was a good boy.

I uncurled his legs last night and tried to put him in a "normal" resting position (i.e. not stretched out) and measured him. He was just over 8 inches in LS, not quite 8.5. His abdomen was about golf-ball size.
