NC Micrathena

Believe this is a Spined Micrathena, Micrathena gracilis, there's at least three in my yard in western NC.

This one and naother appeared to have built webs extremely close together using some of the same supports no less

We have a bunch of those in PA, only the ones I see around the house have more black than white. The other day I had to opportunity to see a little male on this huge females web. I waited for a few moments and watched him make his way across the web, and I got to see them mate. It was interesting, yet not as exciting as T mating.
