Hello.

you can forget about purchase of this species, or at least for some time yet...
It`s very very rare, and just few people all over the world have them....
Breeding isn`t so easy as somebody would think, so ....(

I had heard at one time that there was a breeding attempt in the Czech republic, but perhaps Peter can enlighten us,after all I am a bit partial to Slovakia.

Indeed iv only heard of one person who has them for sure, we can but wait and hope i can remember quite a few animals that were considered almost impossible to keep alive for any length of time let alone breed in captivity that are now quite common place

Rarest if the rare...

This one is stunning! It kind of reminds me of the Xenesthis sp. (white) at Martin's. I can't stop looking at this one! :}

Hello Tony.

You last name sounds like coming from Czechoslovakia )

I used to have 5 pcs of Monocentrophus balfouri at the beginning of this year yet. They were bigger spiderlings, but I traded them for rarer Poecilotherias, as this genus is the most interesting for me...
That`s right there are some Monocentrophus balfouri in Czech republic. They all were brough from scientific trip over Socotra few years ago. I know Vladimir Sejna bred them few months ago, but as I know from him, the final result of spiderlings were 5 pcs!!! They start to die without any reason, so it`s really hard to keep spiderlings alive.
I got my spiderlings in 1st instar, and I didn`t lost any, but....

I hope to get someof them later again, they are really amazing....

Best regards,
Peter

Hello.

I didn`t take many pictures, but have few.. :) I am postinghere two pictures from feeding. They are not the best, but the spiderlings are really very small. Spiderling on the picture is approx. in 5th/6th instar, and still less 1 cm in the body...
As you see, they are not so colorfull as spiderlings, but for sure getting better and better look with every next molt...

Best regards,
Peter

That is indeed very small especially with 5 or 6 molts under its belt,They do look very plain as spiderlings what size do they get to as adults,I wonder why they are so hard to get to adulthood. :?

They look similar to Cithoscurria Crawshayi. :D

Pardon me, But you would`nt have the common name, off hand, would you? :)

Considering Peter had the only 5 spiderlings (right?) and there were only a couple adults taken back, I would say it would NOT warrant a common name

Thank you for clarifying that. I`d end up seaching everywhere for the common name.
Come to think of it, I should have realised that myself.

(seems as if I learn something new everyday)
