View Full Version : My jumping spider just molted

I believe it to be Phidippus audax as I live in Va. Frsh out of its molt it looks stunning but I am curious about its sex.

it looks nearly identical to this male florida jumping spider I found online http://www.users.uswest.net/~phidippus/regiusm2.jpg

Except its white is much more pronounced and its legs 1 and 2 got huge(comparativley speaking of course)

Sorry I dont have a pic but only a crappy digi that could never take a pic of something so small with good quality.

Are the females and males easily differentiated at maturity by color and can the large white bands be an indicator?

did it molt like a tarantula on its back?

Not sure... it was in its tube web and I just found its molt...

I have a jumping spider in my collection now. I caught it off my Mom's ceiling, lol

It has eaten so much it looks like it is going to burst! I hope it molts soon. It stays in its tube web now, and ignores crickets.

I will let ya know!

Thats what mine did before it molted... so maybe you are in luck.
